Google Property Maps

June 2010 - Now Launched in the UK

Following its release in July 2009 of Google Real Estate Listings in Australia Google has now launched its UK property selling service permitting estate agents and the public alike to show their property listings free of charge! Property listings will be shown on Google Maps and properties located directly from these maps with further links to the vendors' website. An article in the Financial Times tells that the big property portals' share prices have fallen heavily on news of the proposed launch.

Several property groups such as Zoopla and Countrywide have signed up to send their data to Google but Rightmove will not be joining them.

Whilst it is early days we cannot help but think that Google has the power to crush the other portals. Estate agents pay average monthly fees of around £325 to a portal and the search engine giant will offer the same listing for free...
